Prof Sospeter Mwijarubi Muhongo is a very distinguished world-class scholar, a chartered and a European earth scientist.
He holds a Dr.rer.nat. degree from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.
Prof Muhongo, a former Minister of Energy and Minerals of the United Republic of Tanzania, and a former President of Geological Society of Africa, is a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences.
He is a Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society of London, a Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society of America, and a Honorary Research Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences.
He was the founding Regional Director of Africa for the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU)
Prof Muhongo is an Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the Journal of African Earth Sciences, Elsevier, and a former Vice President of the Commission of the Geological Map of the World (CGMW).
